About Us

A Message from our principal Kim Conger

Dear Jackson Parents,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. I am so excited to start the school year and see all of your children at the George A. Jackson Elementary School.  The Jackson Community of students, parents, teachers and staff have always held a special place in my heart.  Since I began my career in Jericho School District in 1995 Jackson has been my home.  First as a special education teacher then as a special education facilitator.  Most recently my office remained at Jackson when I became the Curriculum Associate for Pupil Personnel Services, PrK-5.

Jackson is a diverse community of learners.  Our families speak over 28 languages and counting.  Our Student Council guides students in choosing activities that inspire us to give to others.  Recently, the entire school did a fundraiser for Pennies for Patients.  In addition, students are introduced to inspiring school wide quotes as well as a book of the month that extends itself to teaching a social-emotional theme.  At Jackson the social and emotional development of all students is important.  Keeping with this theme, we all participate in Peaceful Breathing and we practice a Growth Mindset.  Our students strive to be Peace Keepers.

Jackson continues to offer a broad range of programs that foster intellectual achievement.  Our teachers are committed to instilling a love of learning with a strong partnership with families. Technology is integrated into the curriculum through readily available Chromebooks and iPads.  Students participate in a world language exploratory program and attend science lab, computer lab as well as a robust library program.  At Jackson we value the importance of Music and Art where students participate in performances in chorus, band and orchestra.

Jackson has dedicated teachers and staff who are committed to the overall intellectual development and social-emotional growth of all students.  Along with our supportive PTA, amazing students and families this makes it a special school.

I look forward to a year to remember at George A. Jackson and I will be committed to upholding its reputation as a school of excellence.

With warmest regards,

Kim Conger
